Report on GDP and beyond – Measuring progress in a changing world

E-mail Print PDF

Wednesday, 8 June 2011 - Strasbourg

Explanation of vote:

Report Anna Rosbach

Pino Arlacchi (S&D ), in writing . − I voted in favour of this report because it stresses the importance of agreeing on a systemic approach to setting up a coherent ‘Beyond GDP system’ to contribute to improved policy analysis. Wednesday, 8 June 2011 - Strasbourg

Report  Richard Falbr

Pino Arlacchi (S&D ), in writing . − The report on the external dimension of social policy relates to a priority for the EU social policies. It calls for the strengthening of the core labour standards embedded in the ILO conventions, including freedom of association and collective bargaining, elimination of forced and compulsory labour, elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation, and the abolition of child labour. I voted in favour of this report because it also calls for a change in governance, globally and in the EU, in order to better implement workers’ rights and working conditions.
