BAKU. Oct 10 (Interfax) - The election observation missions of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) and the European Parliament have congratulated the Azeri people on the successful conclusion of the presidential polls in the country.
Head of the European Parliament's delegation Pino Arlacchi confirmed the absence of any pressure on voters on the election day.
There was no police presence at the country's polling stations either, he said.
On the whole, the elections were democratic, despite the continuing serious problems with freedom of speech, Arlacchi said.
