In its proposals for a major reform of the EU’s common fisheries policy, the Commission has set out a radical approach to fisheries management in Europe. The aim is to secure both fish stocks and fishermen's livelihood for the future while putting an end to overfishing and depletion of fish stocks.
Given the fundamental importance of the social dimension of this reform, and considering that, on a first overview, the reform package seems lacking in this specific area:
- What measures is the Commission planning to take in order to secure the redeployment of fishing vessels and to guarantee fishermen's future livelihood?
